Cupcakes for dinner

When I was making Jonathan's cake, I had some batter leftover so I made 2 mini cake/cupcakes for the girls and I was going to let them decorate them. They slept a long time on Friday and when they woke up we had to run to the grocery store and by the time we got back it was almost dinner time so I didn't want them ruining their dinner. Then, Riley started complaining on Friday that her tongue was hurting her from the blisters she has from the Hand Foot and Mouth Disease. So I felt really bad (and lazy because I wasn't hungry and didn't really want to cook) so I let them pick a color of icing and go to town on their cupcakes. They had cupcakes, applesauce, and grapes for dinner.... oh and chocolate milk to wash it down, LOL. Good wholesome dinner! They had a lot of fun doing it even though it only took all of 2 seconds for Riley to be done and Reagan to suck all the icing out of the bag, haha. Riley did a good job... I was really impressed.

The finished products.... notice how good Riley's stars are... Reagan didn't let hers sit long after I took the icing bag away, haha.

Weekend continued.....

Sorry it took so long to finish up this post. We got rid of the big computer that I am used to and we are only using the laptop.... I am still trying to get used to this thing and it's not as easy to do this on the laptop.

Here are some pictures of the girls at the football game and the pumpkin patch.

Trip to the Mountains

We took a trip up to the mountains this past weekend to go to the Clemson game and spend time with the family.
We went to the zoo on the way up and had a good time. We met Aunt Joy, Ben, and Gran there. Riley and Reagan were so excited to see both of them.

Then off to the mountains... it was a beautiful ride and the house had some great scenery.

The Clemson game was wet and cold, but fun. Riley was so excited when we got there. She started yelling "Go Tigers" when I told her we were finally in Clemson. She then got really excited at game time and just HAD to go in with her dad. She had a blast.

Then to make the trip even more jammed packed with fun stuff, we decided to hit the pumpkin patch on the way back into town. Riley had just about had it in the car and was going crazy. When we told her we were at a pumpkin patch her face lit up and she started telling us that "I love this pumpkin patch" and "thank you mommy this is soooo much fun". Too cute and made it all worth it. She loved the hay bale maze and the hay ride. We decided not to do the corn maze which was totally fine because Riley like the hay bale maze and she called it a corn maze .... said it was the best corn maze ever.
Pictures of the pumpkin patch will be on another post.

All in all it was a great weekend.

Grocery Deals

For those who don't know, I have been trying to do "couponing" for a couple weeks now. I went to a coupon class a couple weeks ago and learned the in's and out's of coupons and how the grocery store that I shop at works.

I have been saving some money the past 2 weeks, but not saving what some people save. I am still working on being that person that rings up a $150 total and walks out paying $25. Today though, I am proud of my purchases. I got some good deals, used some good coupons and spent very little money. Now keep in mind that I did have to buy some things like fresh fruit and deli meat that wasn't on sale or good deals and I did not include them in my total. But for the good deals here is what I spent and what I spent it on.

Total before savings = $43.97

Total after advertised savings = $23.15 (that includes sales and B1G1 free)

Grand total spent after coupons = $8.15

I can't believe that I got all this food for just $8.15!!!!! I am rather proud of myself. Too bad I had other stuff to buy and had to spend more money than that. One day, I will go to the grocery store and only spend that much money!!!!!

Peek-A-Boo

One day while I was cooking, Reagan decided that she was going to play a very funny game of peek-a-boo.

Who's little fingers are those??

Peek-a-boo!

This is now where she goes when she needs to sit down while I am in the kitchen :)

Riley doing the same thing this time last year. Riley barely fits in there now so I don't think she taught Reagan to do this... must just be a fun looking place to sit.

Visit From Melissa

It is always interesting when Melissa comes to visit... you just never know what to expect, haha. She was coming over for me to help her make a cake for Jim's birthday. He wanted a cookie cake so that was easy - something that I have lots of experience with and something both girls love to do. I'm not so sure how much work Melissa did on the cake because ever time I turned around she was giving the spoon to Riley or Emily to help her stir. But the cake turned out good and I think all 4 girls had a blast making it (Riley, Reagan, Melissa, and Emily)! I wish that I got a picture of Reagan because she climbed up on the white stool and then onto the side of the stool and had her leg hiked up on the counter trying to get on there to get the bowl of icing. She is a little sneaky stinker that I have to keep all eyes on :)
