Pinecone

One day we were out walking and Riley stopped to pick up a pine cone. She was very excited about this pine cone and told me that she was going to take it home and decorate it for Mrs. Lisa (her teacher). I said fine and didn't think much about it until I started thinking about how we were going to decorate this pine cone. All I could think of was making the nasty peanut butter bird feeder and thought about how gross that would be in the car on the way to school. So I asked Riley how she wanted to decorate it and she said in a very "duh" kinda way, "with sparkles mom". Geez what was I thinking. So we got out some sparkly poof balls and some sequence and started decorating. I really had no idea what to do with the pine cone so I just told her to tell me where she wanted to put things and I would put some glue and let her do it all. We put the first ball on and she told me she wanted the second one right next to it. I told her that she needed to spread them out and she said "no mom, they are eyes and they go together"... again "duh". So there it was, she was making a face on the pine cone, something that I would have never thought to do. She designed the whole thing herself and I was very proud of her creativity. She took it to school and Mrs. Lisa loved it. She made it the centerpiece on the table for the day.
