Painters Tape

I will have to admit that I am following my sister's blog wishing that I either had the energy to get up and do the things she is doing or just wishing that I had some of the supplies that she has to do crafts (then again wishing I had the energy to get up and get it all out... and put it all away!). But occasionally she picks some really simple and easy things to do. One that was really fun was the tape on the floor. Now, I don't exactly remember why she put tape on the floor, but after her first activity she turned the line into a square and said it was amazing how one square on the floor could keep the kids entertained for so long. My first thought was that my kids would never find anything to do with a square on the floor, they would just sit and stare at it or just ignore it. Well I was wrong.... kinda.

After we went to The Little Gym I put painters tape on the floor to make a balance beam for Riley to walk on and show her dad how good she was. The kids loved to walk up and down the beam for about 10 min and then they were bored and never went back to it. Then today I was sitting there looking at the painters tape that was still sitting out on the counter and had an idea to make "city" on the floor so the girls could drive the cars on the "roads". Well, they weren't to sure about it. Riley looked at it awhile and Reagan tried to tear it all up, but then finally they played some when dad got home from work. That lasted about 2 min. Riley stood up and threw a car into a square and started hoping around.... she would much rather play hopscotch than cars. So there you have it... a parent makes one thing and kids see something totally different. I have left the "city" on the ground just to see if they can come up with anything else to do with it, but I have a feeling that they will just tear it up in the morning.
