The girls didn't want to go to sleep that night... all they wanted was to watch the snow out the back door with me. I have to admit that it was very relaxing and I ended up watching it until about midnight!
The next morning Riley was up early ready to play. I wanted to take the kids out right away because I was afraid it would melt once the sun came up. I figured out why they make snow pants and gloves... jeans and cotton gloves get wet! We weren't prepared to play in the snow at all. The kids didn't last long at all. They made it long enough for Jason to teach them how to throw a snowball (at me).
And they made a snowman (Jason was more excited about that than anyone). When we were finishing up the snowman I noticed that every step I took was a little mushy and the snow was melting already.
That was the same time the kids were too cold to move. But our neighbors came out so we headed over there to see them and have a good snow ball fight (my kids just sat and cried the whole time) and then I "made" Riley lay down to make a snow angel. She wasn't too happy about it, but once she was down and moving around she realized that was what she was waiting for. She then got up, looked at it all proud, and then realized she was wet all over and cried the whole way home.
The snow was pretty too look at, fun for a bout a minute to play in, and then just caused us problems from then on.... Riley got sick, lots of water everywhere from it melting, and a tree on our roof b/c it couldn't handle the weight of the snow. Now I remember why we live in the south:)
