The Eye Doctor

R2 had her first vision screening today. She passed with flying colors. Before anyone gets too concerned, nothing IS wrong with her and we never thought anything WAS wrong with her. When R1 was a baby I was told about InfantSEE, which is a public health program to make vision screening part of an infant's wellness care. So as a part of all of the well-baby check-ups, we added the eye doctor to the mix just to make sure everything is in working order. R2 was so funny while we were there because she did not like the doctor shinning the light in her face and she told him that a few times. When he first shinned the light I think she squinted and he told her it was bright and he would dim it some. Then he said "that's better, huh". She shook her head no!!! Every time he tried to look she would shake her head no. And as much as she didn't like it, she was not about to take her eyes off him. She watched him so intently to make sure he didn't try to do touch her or anything. He actually backed up at one time laughing because he said that he felt like he was about to get punched in the face, LOL.

R1 was very, very, very upset that she couldn't go to the doctor with us. I actually had to lie to her (gasp) and tell her that we weren't going anymore and that I canceled the appointment. The plan was for her to go with my sister and Nonnie to where ever they were going and I would take R2, but when R1 heard that I was going to the doctor, she cried for 30 minutes because she wanted to go. I told her that if she wouldn't go with Nonnie then I would cancel the appointment because I couldn't take her with me. She said ok because she wanted to stay with me. Then she found out she was going to the Children's Museum and she didn't really care what I was doing. She had a blast like always. I think the best part for her was riding in Nonnie's new car because she loves the DVD player in the car.
